Power like a V6, fuel consumption like a four-cylinder car – the Audi A6 hybrid, coming on the market in 2012, combines the best of two worlds. Its gasoline engine, a 2.0 TFSI, and the electric motor can briefly generate 180 kW (245 hp) of system power and 480 Nm (354.03 lb-ft) of torque. Despite the high and spontaneous generation of power, the average rate of fuel consumption in the standard cycle is below 6.4 liters per 100 km (36.75 US mpg). The sedan can travel up to a speed of 100 km/h (62.14 mph) on electric power alone, and cover around three kilometers (1.86 miles) with zero local emissions at a speed of 60 km/h (37.28 mph). Audi may be leading the way with the new Audi A6 Avant but we have a video for you ahead of its debut tomorrow, May 18. Audi will unveil the new trendsetter of the business class in the Humboldt Box, opposite Berlin Cathedral.
Audi is launching the next generation of the A6 Avant, the most successful business-class station wagon in Europe. The new model presents the brand’s full array of progressive technological expertise. Its lightweight body, large portions of which are made of aluminum, sets new standards, as does the wide selection of assistance and multimedia systems. The keyword for the latter is Audi connect. The new Audi A6 Avant is available with a choice of six engines: two gasoline engines and four diesel units. Fuel consumption has been reduced by as much as 18 percent compared with the previous model. Topping the engine lineup is the new 3.0 TDI with twin-turbo technology and 230 kW (313 hp). Audi also offers numerous high-end options for the drivetrain and the chassis. The luggage compartment has a capacity of up to 1,680 liters (59.33 cu ft) and offers a number of elegant features, including a power rear hatch that opens in response to a sensor signal.
Volkswagen AG (VOW)’s Audi luxury brand will target executives with a revamped A6 sedan to increase sales and lure customers from Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (BMW) and Daimler AG (DAI) at the more expensive end of the product range.
