Audi is presenting the RS Q3 at the Geneva International Motor Show, the first RS model for the successful Q line-up. It combines outstanding everyday practicality with dynamic driving performance: It takes just 5.5 seconds to complete the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h (62.14 mph), and its top speed is electronically governed to 250 km/h (155.34 mph). The 2.5-liter five-cylinder turbo produces 228 kW (310 hp) and has an average fuel consumption of just 8.8 liters of fuel per 100 km (26.73 US mpg). Audi is unveiling a themed vehicle of a special kind at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit – the Audi Q3 Vail with an output of 231 kW (314 hp). The compact SUV, which is named after the famous winter sports venue in the United States, unites a powerful presence with a sporty lifestyle. SEAT has just begun production on the Audi Q3. The first unit of Audi’s new compact SUV has been manufactured today in Martorell and signals the end of a process that began in 2009 when the German brand handed over the project to SEAT. Furthermore, the Q3 is the first Premium vehicle in history manufactured at a Spanish production site.
By 2012, after the first full year of production, Audi plans to have delivered around 100,000 units of the new car. The Q3 will be manufactured in three shifts, and will be decisive to SEAT claiming its objective of reaching the full capacity potential of its Martorell factory installations. SEAT has begun the training course for the first employees to join the workforce for production of the new Audi Q3. To date, 150 of the 1,200 people to be trained by SEAT over the forthcoming weeks –from whom the company will select the 700 to be hired – are already studying the first course module at SEAT’s Training School. Market position to be expanded with Q5 in China and Audi Q3
Audi Q5 is the world’s most successful SUV in its class
Sales Chief Schwarzenbauer: ‘We intend to strengthen our position in the market even further.’
No premium manufacturer builds and sells more all-wheel-drive cars worldwide than Audi. This is borne out by figures from the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA). And as the registration statistics show, Audi also sells more all-wheel-drive models in Germany than any other premium brand. From January through August, Audi produced some 190,500 vehicles with quattro drive, which means that around one third of all Audi cars are equipped with this technology. The Audi Q5, the most prominent new addition to the all-wheel model lineup, is the most successful SUV in its class worldwide – with some 63,100 units sold in the first eight months of 2009.

Today SEAT held the foundation stone laying ceremony for the new bodywork workshop at the Martorell plant for assembly of the new Audi Q3 from 2011 onwards. The shed, ready to house the production facilities in February 2010, will be equipped with almost 300 robots, making it one of the most modern workshop of its kind in the world.

Audi, together with VW Group management, has decided that the Audi AQ will be manufactured at the SEAT factory in Martorell.
This decision comes on the back of the great strides SEAT has made in the past few years in terms of quality and cost containment. Likewise, SEAT employees themselves, thanks to their decision in the consultation carried out last month, have also made a highly positive contribution to this achievement.
