Early last week, we brought you rough videos of Audi testing the R18 shortly after the 12 Hours of Sebring concluded. Now, we have official footage from Audi Motorsport in HD. Audi is now referring to the LMP racer as the “Evolution 2″ Audi R18 due to its findings on earlier test, improved aero and engine cooling.
Everyone was wondering where the R18′s were and why was Audi not racing them. New ACO regulations meant that the cars development would not be complete before the weekend. Little did everyone know that two Evolution 2 R18′s in the trucks, right there.
When we first heard the R18, our first thought was Stealth Fighters. The all black carbon might have influenced our thinking but the sounds were amazing! As son as we posted the earlier videos and images, others were doing the same and the motorsport world was abuzz.

All ten Audi drivers were in force running the R15 TDI’s as well for reference points on setup, aerodynamics, tires, cooling, and reliability.
In roughly 4 weeks, we will see the R18 at the official test day at Le Mans and on May 7th for its first race at the 1000KM of Spa.
