Audi has asked a Chinese dealer to remove a banner advocating the murder of Japanese people after a photograph of the sign went viral on the Internet amid escalating tensions between the two countries.
The anti-Japan message captured in the photo of the unidentified dealership doesn’t reflect Audi’s views, said Lu Minjie, a spokeswoman at FAW-Volkswagen Automotive Co., the venture that makes Audi-brand cars in China. Continue reading ‘Audi China dealer told to ditch banner’

Laurens Vanthoor, Anthony Kumpen, Edward Sandstrom and Marco Bonanomi won in the Audi R8 LMS ultra by five laps. The Audi factory has won at Le Mans, the Nurburgring and Spa this year. With the Belgium private team’s victory a fourth 24-hour victory is added to the brand’s endurance record this year. For the Belgian Anthony Kumpen it was his sixth overall victory in this event. Mike Rockenfeller (born October 31, 1983 in Neuwied), nicknamed “Rocky”, is a German race car driver, currently an Audi factory driver competing in the Le Mans Series and DTM. Rockenfeller began racing karts in 1995 at age of 11, winning the Bambini North state championship. He competed in various local and national karting series in the 1990s. In 2002, he won the Jorg van Ommen Kart Cup Super Series. In 2007, Rockenfeller became an Audi factory driver and raced an A4 DTM for Audi Sport Team Rosberg in the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters. If you’ve read the “50 Shades of Grey” erotic trilogy, then you know that Audis make an appearance throughout the books nearly as much as sex toys do.
Given that few other brands appear in the books, Audi’s feat of securing a starring role for not just one of its models, but for several different cars (in addition to the A3, others that make appearances are the R8 Spyder, and the Q7 sport-utility vehicle) is pretty astounding. One of the most beautiful racing cars in the history of motor sport: the Auto Union Type D twin-supercharger racing car dating from 1939 is now back at AUDI AG.
“This is one of the most emotional moments in our heritage work for AUDI AG – we have come full circle,” says Thomas Frank, Head of Audi Tradition. A few weeks ago, the car manufacturer was able to repurchase an extremely rare Auto Union Silver Arrow racing car – consisting largely of original parts. It is the Auto Union twin-supercharger Type D dating from 1939, and is one of the two legendary “Karassik cars”. Audi today announced 2012 R8 models created exclusively for the U.S. market. Building on the award-winning R8 V8 and R8 V10 Coupes, the Exclusive Selection Editions will arrive in limited volume later this month. Only twenty 2012 Exclusive Selection Edition R8 V8 vehicles and thirty 2012 Exclusive Selection Edition R8 V10 vehicles will be produced.
