Bugatti creates top-rate performing sports cars that are so unique in design and technique that they have been named pieces of art. Bugatti, the maker of the world’s fastest production car, has won backing from parent Volkswagen AG (VOW) to build the 16C Galibier sedan, adding a four-door model to its lineup, two people familiar with the matter said.
The Galibier, which premiered as a concept vehicle at the 2010 Geneva auto show, has a 1,000-horsepower engine and may cost about 1 million euros ($1.4 million), said the people, who declined to be named as the plans are still private. Only a few weeks ago the new Veyron 16.4 Super Sport achieved a new land speed world record with 431, 072 km/h (268 mph) on Volkswagen Group’s proving ground at Ehra-Lessien nearby the Wolfsburg headquarters. In August, Bugatti presented the car in California for the very first time to the public and now the company has invited a selective group of media to drive the Super Sport. It was a big surprise when California’s Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger showed up at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance last Sunday and he visibly enjoyed it. Together with his son Patrick he strolled across the „Concept Lawn“ in front of the lodge of this legendary Golf Club, where each year the latest concepts of the luxury car brands are on display.
