…and Andrew Thomas should be fired! He should win John Grubers, Jackass of the Week Award. Andrew, you just slapped a whole generation of new designers in the face. You slapped 400k facebook users. You’ve alienated yourself from the auto industry. You probably drive a BMW, more than likely a 325.
To call these designers basement dwelling nerds, bottom-feeders and an outfit spewing crap is low. I have no idea if you even have design experience or even social media experience aside from getting traffic via your ridiculous article.
In terms of social interaction, brand awareness, brand loyalty and more, Audi just proved it works. Who wouldn’t want the opportunity to try and maybe get their work or idea noticed. It’s one channel to go through out of many. These are way future designs and thinking. That’s how concepts work. Throw it on the wall, see what sticks, revise etc.
I highly doubt Audi has the intentions to save cash and hire talent or buy designs on the cheap. If it was to be true, would they be this obvious?
The complete article is after the jump and please post your thoughts on this.

The 2009 54th Annual PCA Parade, being held June 29th to July 4th in Keystone Colorado, is fast approaching. This year, the Parade’s Time Speed Distance (TSD) rally on July 1st is sponsored by Mobil 1. As most of you know, Porsche and Mobil 1 have a long and storied partnership dating back to 1996. 13 years later the relationship is stronger than ever with Mobil 1 used as the exclusive factory fill, and recommended service fill, for all Porsche engines and a sponsor to Porsche Motorsport.
Seeing that James, an Automotive Editor, can’t tell the difference… Think you can?
“Hey James, what car is that?”
I’ve been able to successfully answer that question since I was 3 years old. But sadly, I can no longer tell Audis apart. Give me enough time, a big enough photo, a magnifying glass and man named Helmut and I’ll be able to figure it out. OK, so that’s an exaggeration, but when I see a newish Audi coming toward me on the road, I can’t tell if its an old A4 or a new A4 or an A3 or an A5 or an A6. Go ahead, take your best guess with the four cars above. The SUVs are no better. Just the other day I thought I saw my first civilian Q5 on the road — nope, just a Q7.
