The 41st edition of the ADAC Zurich 24h Race started with a thriller: pole-sitter Frank Stippler in the Phoenix Team’s Audi R8 LMS ultra des Phoenix-Teams was the leader of a three-car top flight that provided the countless fans around the legendary 25.378 kilometre Nordschleife and the TV audience a stunning battle. In the opening stages, the intervals between Stippler, Marcel Fässler who drove the sister car of the leader and Pedro Lamy in the Aston Martin Vantage GT3 who had been second on the grid amounted to just a few seconds. In front of the packed stands around the Eifel circuit, the field now drive into a long night that promises loads of action: the forecasted changeable conditions should turn the longest race on the longest racetrack of the world into an extreme challenge.
