ALMS: Romain Dumas proves fastest once again at Mosport warmup

Muscle Milk Team CytoSport continued its dominating weekend at Mosport International Raceway with the fastest time in Sunday’s warmup for the Mobil 1 presents Grand Prix of Mosport. Romain Dumas set the quickest lap at 1:08.538 in the Porsche RS Spyder that he will share with pole-winner Klaus Graf. Dumas was 0.895 seconds faster than Intersport Racing’s Clint Field, who set a time of 1:09.433 in the Lola-AER prototype he will drive with his father Jon.

Patrón Highcroft Racing’s David Brabham, who will make his 100th career start in the American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patrón, was third at 1:10.105. He will drive PHR’s HPD ARX-01c with Simon Pagenaud.

In GT, Corvette Racing’s two Corvette C6.Rs sat 1-2 in GT with Oliver Gavin setting the class’ best lap at 1:17.967. He was 0.363 seconds better than teammate Olivier Beretta in the sister Corvette, followed by Risi Competizione’s Toni Vilander in the team’s remaining Ferrari F430 GT at 1:18.354.

Christophe Bouchut went quickest in LMPC for Level 5 Motorsports at 1:14.330, only 0.214 seconds better than Ricardo Gonzalez for the pole-sitting PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports entry. Genoa Racing’s Frankie Montecalvo sat third at 1:15.676.

Velox Racing’s Lawson Aschenbach led the way in GT Challenge with a 1:24.287 on his final lap of the session. His Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car was just 0.268 seconds ahead of Luke Hines in the class pole-sitting ORBIT/Paul Miller Racing Porsche. Andy Lally was only 0.134 further seconds back for TRG.

Today’s race, Round 8 of the 2010 championship, starts at 3:05 p.m. ET today.
