Day 1: Sebring Winter testing report

Racing season is on! Earlier today, the American Le Mans Series kicked off 2013 with the annual two day winter test sessions at Sebring. Fifteen entries were scheduled to show up with six of those flying the Porsche flag.

The first session was green at 8AM this morning with Falken Tire reporting temperatures at 64F ambient and 54F track.

In GT, Falken Tire and the Paul Miller Racing Porsche 911 GT3 RSR’s were up against three Ferraris from Extreme Speed Motorsports and Risi Competizione and the two SRT Motorsport Vipers.

Bryan Sellers / no17 Falken Porsche 911 GT3 RSR was the fastest Porsche in the first session over Bryce Miller, two seconds back in the no48 Paul Miller Racing 911 GT3 RSR.

GTC was a bit more exciting with the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup teams swapping times over the Sebring second session. Early on, Alex Job Racing set the pace with a 2:07.051 in the no22 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup. Dion von Molke, Cooper MacNeil and Jeroen Bleekemolen were sharing duties at the wheel.

Flying Lizard Motorsports would answer back with a 2:07.987. Thirty minutes later, they still held the top spot with a 2:07.520. Archie Hamilton, Nelson Canache and Spencer Pumpelly rotated the day.

No. 62 Risi Competitizione Ferrari still held top spot.

Flying Lizard would go faster with a 2:06.667 but the no66 TRG Porsche would slip in with a 2:06.574 to top the charts. Craig Stanton, Ben Keating and Daimien Faulkner were sharing the wheel.

The no11 JDX Hertz Porsche of Mike Hedlund and Jan Heylen rounded out the day.
