Two 911 GT3 RSRs in the top ten for Mid-Ohio ALMS

Flying Lizard Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 RSR, Mid-Ohio

The Porsche 911 GT3 RSR’s were showing good pace at Mid-Ohio during qualifying. In the end, Joerg Bergmeister put the no45 Flying Lizard Porsche on second row, forth in the session. Once again, the BMW’s are first and second. Bergmeister was 0.378 off of Joey Hands 1:20.539 around the 2.24 mile course.

“To start from the second row is not so bad considering the strong competition. If we get away well we could probably make up one or two positions,” said Joerg Bergmeister. “The 15 kilogram weight handicap that we were handed prior to Mid-Ohio costs us about two-tenths of a second per lap. But we’re still hoping that the better strategy of our Flying Lizard crew can make the difference over the race distance.”

With four Porsche 911 GT3 RSR’s racing, the others were a bit off pace but you can never count any one of them out over the 2:45 hour race.

Falken Tire Porsche 911 GT3 RSR, Mid-Ohio

Atlanta driver, Bryan Sellers ended up 9th 1.382 seconds back. The Azenis race slicks have been performing quite well and we think Falken is right there for a Top 3. Even better if rain hits!

Paul Miller Racing Porsche 911 GT3 RSR, Mid-Ohio

Sascha Maassen was a bit more than a second off of Sellers time. A 1:23.084 would put the Paul Miller Racing GT3 RSR into thirteenth. Bryce Miller will pair off with Maassen.

The sister no44 Flying Lizard landed in fifteenth with Seth Neiman at the wheel. He was 4.173 back.

The GTC class has been great and Mid-Ohio qualifying showed us, once again, that these guys mean business.

Another Atlanta driver, Spencer Pumpelly lapped the course in 1:26.602 to take pole. Leh Keen was no more than a hair width back with a 1:26.614. If our math is correct, that is (.012) twelve thousandths of a gap. Jeroen Bleekemolen followed up in third .127 back of Keen. Craig Stanton, Dion von Moltke, Ham and davis finished out the class.
