The Dakar Rally is considered by many to be the world’s most dangerous race, however safety is always of constant priority to both organizers and competitors. Sentinel and iritrack are safety devices which must be outfitted to every vehicle competing in the rally. Both safety devices are spec equipment, distributed by the event organizers. The sentinel warns a competitor when a faster vehicle is approaching. The iritrack serves several functions, including gps tracking, telecommunications and emergency response. This video explains:
