DTM: Abt in the final second

The first 90 minutes’ test in the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben has been completed and at the end of the session, there were four cars from last year in front: fastest on Friday morning was Christian Abt with the Playboy Audi A4.

In the final minute, the driver from Kempten set the fastest time of 1:21.505 minutes. This made him 0.388 seconds faster than second-placed Daniel La Rosa with the Trekstor AMG-Mercedes C-Class, who was also best-placed DTM rookie. Third was French driver, Jean Alesi. He set a best lap time of 1:22.073 minutes with the stern AMG-Mercedes C-Class. Audi works-driver Pierre Kaffer completed the quartet of drivers with year-old machinery in front.

Bernd Schneider completed 47 laps in the first test
DTM record champion Bernd Schneider doesn’t want to take any chances at Oschersleben and has his eyes set on his third win of the season. In the first test on Friday morning, the 41-year old completed 47 laps, far more than any other driver. Eventually, reward for his efforts was fifth place, 0.603 seconds down on Abt’s fastest lap time. Fastest driver with a current Audi was Martin Tomczyk. The driver from Rosenheim was sixth on the 3.667 kilometres long track.

Mercedes-Benz-driver Jamie Green in seventh and Audi-drivers Tom Kristensen, Timo Scheider and Frank Stippler in eighth to tenth place completed the top ten. In 18th position, Susie Stoddart was again fastest lady in the field, Vanina Ickx completed the test in 20th place.
