Ok. We will give Mercedes-AMG some face time.
Jamie Green had a good start into the race day by setting the fastest lap time in warm-up on Sunday morning. In the 30 minutes’ warm-up session, the Brit topped the time sheets with 1:33.902 minutes. In qualifying on Saturday, Green had already been quick: with his 2008-spec AMG Mercedes C-Class, he made it into the fourth qualifying heat and secured himself fourth place on the grid.
In warm-up, Green was ahead of no less than five Audi A4 DTM cars. Like in yesterday’s qualifying, Martin Tomczyk was the fastest Audi driver. With his lap time of 1:33.991 minutes, the German was only 0.089 seconds short of the outright fastest time. Timo Scheider, Mike Rockenfeller, Oliver Jarvis and Mattias Ekström occupied third to sixth place. Gary Paffett, who will be starting from pole position at the season opener, ranked seventh.
After eight minutes, Katherine Legge caused a brief interruption: after leaving the pit lane, she ran straight into the tarmac-covered run-off area and subsequently got stuck in the gravel trap. Although she turned the steering wheel, she couldn’t change the direction of the car.
The opening race of the 2010 DTM season will cover 39 laps and 178.386 kilometres. The race starts at 14.00 h, the ARD is broadcasting live from 13.45 h.
