Spencer Pumpelly will start the race in fourth place in the No 45 911 GT3 Cup car with a time of 2:05.765, and Alex Imperatori clocked a 2:06.059 in the No 44, good for seventh place in class. Flying Lizard Motorsports will begin its 2013 ALMS GTC campaign later this week at the ALMS Winter Test at Sebring Raceway in Florida, utilizing two full days of testing on February 7th and 8th. The team will test its new 2013 No. 44 Flying Lizard Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car, running three drivers through the car: Spencer Pumpelly, Nelson Canache Jr., and Archie Hamilton. Joerg Bergmeister qualified the No. 45 Flying Lizard Porsche fifth in GT with a time of 1:46.583 and Marco Holzer was sixth in the No. 44 with a 1:46.601 for tomorrow’s VIR 240 race. The four-hour event at Virginia International Raceway gets the green flag Saturday, Sept 15 at 2:30 pm ET. The Lizard driver lineup is Bergmeister and Patrick Long in the No. 45 Flying Lizard Porsche 911 GT3 RSR and Holzer and Seth Neiman in the No. 44. Flying Lizard locked out the front row today for the Road America Road Race Showcase with a one/two GT qualifying finish. Marco Holzer took his first ALMS career pole in the No. 44 Flying Lizard Porsche with a time of 2:04.415, a new track record. Joerg Bergmeister was just 1/100 of a second back in P2 in the No. 45 with a time of 2:04.428. It is the first pole for the No. 44 since 2004. The Lizards picked up some much-needed season momentum with a second-place finish at the most recent ALMS race at Mid-Ohio August 4th. Bergmeister and Long are now fifth in the 2012 ALMS GT drivers’ championship with 55 points. Oliver Gavin and Tommy Milner of the No. 4 Corvette lead with 93 points. The Lizards are fourth in the team championship with 66 points; Corvette Racing leads with 114 points. There are 88 points possible left in the season. Patrick Long and Joerg Bergmeister brought the No. 45 in for the GT win at today’s Northeast Grand Prix at Lime Rock Park. It’s the first win – and the first podium finish – for the Lizards this year. It’s the team’s fifth win at Lime Rock since 2004. Sister Porsche No. 44 finished ninth in class in the 2 hour and 45 minute race.

Patrick Long brought the No. 45 in fourth with a time of 51.483 in today’s GT qualifying for the 2012 Northeast Grand Prix, which gets the green flag this Saturday, July 7 at Lime Rock Park. In the No. 44 Flying Lizard Porsche, Marco Holzer clocked the second fastest GT time of 51.299 in the qualifying session but the car did not meet the ride height minimum during post-qualifying technical inspection. As a result, the No. 44 will start from the rear of the grid. The No. 55 BMW is on the GT pole.
