Marco Holzner sets no44 on first row at Lime Rock Park

Patrick Long brought the No. 45 in fourth with a time of 51.483 in today’s GT qualifying for the 2012 Northeast Grand Prix, which gets the green flag this Saturday, July 7 at Lime Rock Park. In the No. 44 Flying Lizard Porsche, Marco Holzer clocked the second fastest GT time of 51.299 in the qualifying session but the car did not meet the ride height minimum during post-qualifying technical inspection. As a result, the No. 44 will start from the rear of the grid. The No. 55 BMW is on the GT pole.

Long commented on the session: “One word to describe it would be eventful. Early in the qualifying session we went to P1, but from then on I wasn’t able to get a clear lap because of some wild moments with traffic. I was disappointed that I didn’t get the maximum out of the Porsche during the session but I think we’ll have a very balanced car for tomorrow’s race.”

Holzer added: “It was an interesting day for the No. 44. In the practice sessions before qualifying we struggled to get to the right setup, but were able to get things ready before we went out for qualifying. I had a great lap and I think we’ll have a solid car for the race. This year we have a longer warmup on raceday so we’ll have one last chance to finalize things before racestart.”
