Jim Osborn announced today Chili Pepper Racing is expanding their racing efforts for 2007 to include a full season in the Grand Am Cup and SPEED World Challenge Series. “We are really excited”, said Osborn. “Along with racing our Touring car, we have built and are testing a Porsche Boxster for the Grand Am Cup Series. The Boxster will be driven by my nephew John Osborn with his co-driver to be announced. The Porsche feels really strong but I know we have some stiff competition. We plan to debut it at Barber later this month and run a couple of cup races this year in preparation for 2007. The Knoxville, TN based LNS Motorsports will be providing trackside support for our Grand Am Cup efforts”.
The Team is also working feverishly to prepare their 2007 TC Thompson Children’s Hospital/Remote Area Medical Touring Car entrant; a Volkswagen Jetta Turbo Diesel. This marks the first Alternative Fuel Vehicle to participate in the history of SPEED World Challenge Series. The CPR team has been working with a European based team to develop and bring this technology to the series. “We are planning to debut this car during Round 9 when we have our Petit Le Man Charity Weekend. To make this happen, we are not competing in Rounds 6, 7 and 8”, said Osborn. “Although we hate to miss races, we feel the need to get this program readied for the 2007 season. Besides, Amy Jo and I are expecting our first child in August!” Chili Pepper Racing is currently looking for marketing partners for their Grand Am Cup and SPEED World Challenge efforts.
