Susperstitions are just that! Third time wasn’t a charm.
The past two seasons of Jetta TDI Cup have resulted in a rained-out weekend for New Jersey Motorsport Park. They had also concluded with somehow-someway, my car being put into the wall. We as racers have our own sort-of “racing religion”. No green paint on cars, don’t bring peanuts to the track, stepping on spiders makes it rain. These superstitions are interesting, how did they come to be? Third times a charm right? Well thankfully not! Otherwise I would have smoked the wall, again. That being said, I wouldn’t have minded the rain, these Jetta’s handle amazingly well in the rain and are very fun to pilot. Perhaps I should have stepped on a spider? (continue reading…)

Today, the Volkswagen Jetta TDI Cup Series began its 2010 season in exciting fashion at the Virginia International Raceway (VIR). The weather was picture-perfect and the young drivers provided a thrilling and competitive race. This weekend, the Volkswagen Jetta TDI Cup and Series partner, Safety-Kleen Systems, will open the 2010 season just one day after Earth Day in proper fashion by providing some of the most environmentally conscious racing in the country. The Series will once again be using clean diesel fuel in its racecars, demonstrating its commitment to the environment. In the season’s ten events, the Jetta TDI Cup cars will consume approximately two tanks of clean diesel fuel during race conditions. All Volkswagen clean diesel TDI models are certified to run on B5 biodiesel, a mix of 5 percent biodiesel and 95 percent petro diesel. Awesome! Our good buds AJ Nealy, Jan Halen and Derek Jones bring a fun video where AJ compares the two cars and the other two race them. If your shopping for a TDI this is a great video to watch. The TDI is an amazing engine, pulls like a mutha and gets great MPG and is practically in-destructive. AJ is a trip too!
