New Sports Exhaust System for the Porsche 911 Carrera and Targa 4

Something about this has us grinning, and its not the exhaust sound…

New Sports Exhaust System for the Porsche 911 Carrera and Targa 4

The engineers of Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, have developed a new sports exhaust system for the latest generation of the 911, available as an option on new models as of February 2009. New Porsche 911 poised for a successful launch in North America

New Porsche 911 poised for a successful launch in North America

Against the backdrop of a difficult market environment, Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG in Stuttgart supplied a total of 1,516 cars to North America in August – 1,404 to the USA and 112 to Canada. The 45 percent drop compared to the previous year is in line with Porsche expectations and can be explained by the upcoming launch of the new 911 Carrera and Targa models. Sales of the 911 range decreased by 58 per cent to 366 cars, which was down to its lifecycle. The new 911 Carrera model with direct fuel injection ensuring lower gasoline consumption and the Porsche double-clutch transmission will be launched in the USA and Canada on 20 September 2008. The four-wheel drive version of the 911 Carrera and the new 911 Targa, which in addition to that has a new electronic four-wheel drive system, will be available from 25 October 2008.

In the month under review, there were a total of 832 deliveries of the Cayenne range in the USA and Canada, which is nine per cent less than in the same month last year. 318 cars from the Boxster range were sold in August (a drop of 66 per cent). Of this figure, a total of 130 were either the Cayman or Cayman S.

Introducing the new 911 Targa, Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, is completing the fastest generation change the world has ever seen in the 911 model series: Two new power units with direct fuel injection improve both performance and the economy of the new model, the fast-shifting PDK Porsche-Doppelkupplungsgetriebe or double-clutch gearbox replaces the optional Tiptronic S automatic transmission, and electronically controlled PTM Porsche Traction Management takes the place of the former all-wheel drive.
