The readers of “OFF ROAD” trade magazine voted the Porsche Cayenne the “Off-road vehicle of the year” in the “Luxury SUV” category. The choice was between models from eleven manufacturers in this category alone. Porsche’s sporty SUV attracted more than 20 per cent of the votes, putting itself in the lead by a clear margin. Starting deliveries of the two six-cylinder models Cayenne and Cayenne Diesel, Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, is rounding off the market launch of the Company’s new generation of SUVs. Both models combine features typical of the Cayenne such as highly comfortable sportiness and superior offroad driving qualities with truly outstanding efficiency on average fuel consumption of less than 10 litres/100 kilometres or better than 28.3 mpg imp. Come March, Porsche will be doing somewhat of an about face. The underlying principle of Porsche Intelligent Performance will lead the new models. The Cayenne Diesel, Cayenne Turbo, Cayenne S and Cayenne Turbo will all see better fuel consumption ratings and less CO2 output. Overall weight savings will amount to a sportier drive. The new Tiptronic S eight-speed automatic transmission with Auto Start Stop will also be a featured option. Aggressive new body lines give the Cayenne a great new look. For the extra amount motor sports feeling, GEMBALLA practicably placed F1 rocker switches in the classical switch scheme behind the steering wheel rim – up right and down left. An integrated full size airbag guarantees the accustomed safety.
