Porsche improves sales figures in North America
Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, held its ground on the North American market in August. Despite continued difficult market conditions, a total of 1,646 vehicles were sold to customers in North America, about 9 percent more than in August 2008. In the USA, sales increased by 9 percent to 1,526 units compared to last year’s figures; in Canada, sales were up by more than 7 percent to 120 units. In contrast to other manufacturers, Porsche did not really benefit from the American stimulus program ‘Cash for Clunkers’, which helped automobile sales figures soar in August.
Sales of the 911 series enjoyed brisk sales. In the USA and Canada, 716 units of the 911 series were delivered in the period under review, which is equivalent to 96 percent growth compared to the same timeframe last year. The Cayman also enjoyed high demand, with sales rising 51 percent to 196 units. Sales of the Boxster model declined by 13 percent to 163 vehicles, while the Cayenne series posted a decline of 31 percent to 571 units. “
