After 5 years of winning at Hockenheim, Audi beats AMG on their home track! Mattias Ekström is going to be hot this year! The champion of 2004 had a rough season in 2006 and leading up to he first race of this season, has look great!
..Mercedes-Benz has been unbeaten at Hockenheim since October, 2002. The last non-Mercedes-Benz-victory was achieved by Laurent Aiello with the Abt-Audi TT-R on April 21, 2002.
Mattias started on second row, 4th in qualifying. It came down to the wire really with Ekström moving into the lead after the last pitstop. I’m still working on the German translation.
I will say, Mercedes-AMG did follow from 3rd-9th with Audi’s Timo Scheider filling the 10th spot. unfortunately there was carnage at turn 1 and we lost Tom Kristensen. Not a good start to his championship hopes.
