A night set in at Yas Marina, Abu Dhabi, Nicky Pastorelli nailed a 1:51.668 to take pole and give Lamborghini its first ever in GT1. Pastorelli and Dominik Schwager switched off for the 3 qualifying sessions, with a third in Q1, and first in both Q2/Q3. The no37 All-Inkl Munnich Motorsport Lamborghini Murcielago 670 R-SV ran flawless, leaving the field more than half a second back in the end.

The Aston Martin’s were running quite well over the 3 sessions but never managed to best the Lamborghini’s. The team of Stefan Mucke and Darren Turner will start on row one with the no37 All-Inkl car.

Maxime Martin and Frederic Makowiecki will line up third in their #41 Ford Marc VDS with the no7 Aston Martin DB9.

Rounding out the Top 5 is the no11 Corvette Z06 of Mike Hezemans and Nicky Catsburg.

The Swiss Racing Team could only manage 10th with their newly acquired no14 Lamborghini Murcielago 670 R-SV. With a time of 1:52.907 Karl Wendlinger and Lamborghini veteran Peter Kox were knocked out in Q2.

“The car was really good, and we managed to have a good lap in Q3 which brought us to this nice result! We hope to do it again tomorrow when it really counts, we will see tomorrow, but I’m really happy not only for myself but also for the team. They did so much hard work over the last year, when they started from zero, and if you look at the results from last year the first race we were on the last row. The first row this year shows what a great job they did.

“I’m really happy, I mean Nicky already said basically everything: the team had so much work over the winter to get the cars ready, and last year we were nowhere, the car was undriveable and we didn’t even finish. It’s like a 180 degrees turn and I just hope to have a good race result and collect some points. If someone had asked me who I want to drive with I would have said Nicky, it’s great to have a partner at the same level, but what’s really important is a good race result and I’m looking forward to it!”

The first Qualifying Race of 2011 will start at 13:15 (local) – 5:15 AM ET USA. Live streaming here
