Le Mans: Test day 2 coverage

Hmm, in the end (spoiler) a Peugeot edged out the Audi R10′s by roughly 2 seconds, which came in 2nd and 3rd. A Pescarolo then nicked the other Peugeot to take 4th by 2 seconds and within the same 3:28 range as the Audi’s.

Zytek the star of the day in LMP2 with Vergers, GT1 very evenly matched as is GT2.

14:00- green light for the afternoon session

14:10- very slow start to the session, just a couple of cars out on track

14:15- track more animated now but no time improvements, 24 degrees out in the sun at the moment

14:18- Rockenfeller gets Audi number 2 on 5th, 3.33.785

14:21- Bouchut gets the 008 Larbre Aston to 4th , 3.53.709

14:24- Warren Hughes gets the Quifel ASM further up the class with 3.43.459, third now in LMP2

14:30- As usual, the Le Mans track splitting the classes in terms of times, 3.30s in LMP1, 3.40s in LMP2, 3.52s in GT1 and 4.05 in GT2

14:38- Clearly everyone is reserving the quick laps for later on in the session, however some cars have shown it is possible to progress in these sunny conditions as well…

14:43- Nicolas Lapierre brings the Saleen to 4th in GT1 with a 3.53.07

14:44- Pedro Lamy progresses as well with a 3.31.916 getting him in third one whisker ahead of the 16 Pescarolo

14:45- And another good lap from Hughes in 3.41.572, second in LMP2 between the Zyteks now. Things start to heat up on the track…

14:47- Lamy quickest!!! 3.30.224 and Peugeot number 8 tops the times

14:48- Lapierre takes the Saleen two more steps up, second in GT1 with 3.52.525

14:50- GT2 seems to be the only “quiet” category up to now… Werner also improves Audi number 1 slightly to 3.30.514. Hughes down again to 3.40.613 getting closer to Vergers’ time from the morning…

14:53- Tommy Erdos 3rd now in LMP2 on the RML Lola, 3.41.025

15:00 Good job by Creation on 6th, Swiss Spirit now up to 9th Charouz unusually slow on 14th as the Arena Zytek with accelerator problems on 13th

15:02- PSI and Alphand in the 3.57/3.58 range, rather slower than the 3.52s run by the majority of the top GT1s

15:04- We had almost missed it..but Luhr got Audi number 3 to 4th at the moment, 3.31.774

15:13- Werner goes under 3.30s for the first time in the day…3.29.563 for Audi number 1!!

15:19- Both Arena Zytek and Charouz improve but they cannot come close to the top 6…

15:25- Werner even quicker on 3.29.064

15:26- 4.03.300 for Bergmeister to get Flying Lizard on top of GT2 now…

15:34-Capello drives a 3.31.444 getting Pesca #16 to 6th and making it a diesel top 5

15:36- 3.30.290 now for Dindo, he is on third now!!

15:41- Top 5 is now Audi 1/Peugeot 8/Audi 2/Peugeot 7/Audi 3

15:42-3.40.969 for Kurosawa gets him 3rd in LMP2

15:45-3.40.271 now for the Zytek ahead of Hughes in 2nd making it a Zytek 1-2 again in this class

15:46- Bouchut manages 3.51.822 to get the 008 Larbre Aston in second for GT1

15:47- GT2 is now led by Flying Lizard in 4.03.400 followed by Autorlando in 4.03754, Ecosse is 3rd. Risi 97 is fourth, IMSA Matmut is on fifth in class

15:51- The Pesca 16 has been in for repairs for a long time, that’s the reason they have not improved their time
yet.

15:53-Pierre Bruneau have improved to 8th in class but far behind the rest still…

15:54-The JLOC Lambo is still way down the scores, 4.05.595 still their best

15:57- Enge gets the 007 Aston to third with 3.52.458 and Jamie Davies to 5th in 3.52.774 on the BMA Aston number 100

16:00- IMSA Matmut (Pat Long) to third in GT2 with 4.04.415 so it is Porsche 1-2-3 now…

16:02- Bourdais getting a taste of Peugeot number 8 now

16:03- Enge quickest in GT1 now, the 007 clocks 3.51.498

16:06- and 3.51.414 now for Enge…

16:07- 3.39.207 for Kurosawa who gets the Zytek on top of LMP2 !!!

16:14- The Pescarolo 16 is back in fifth, Boullion gets 3.31.697, Villeneuve gets into Peugeot number 7 after Gene has gone marginally faster at 3.30.314

16:20- The top 5 in GT1 is 007 Aston (3.51.414), 64 Corvette (3.51.628), 55 Saleen (3.51.721), 008 Larbre Aston (3.51.822) , 100 BMS Aston (3.52.774)

16: 22- no major changes in GT2 , let’s see what happens as the temperature starts cooling down and the teams go on softer compounds in all classes…

16:23- Enge manages 3.50.848 remaining at the top of GT1

16:30- GT2 is now 80 Flying Lizard (4.03.400)/93 Autorlando(4.03.754)/76 IMSA(4.04.255)/97 Risi(4.04.496)/87 Ecosse (4.04.635) / 81 LNT Panoz(4.06.838)/ 99 Risi (4.07.529)

16:34-3.28.277 for Biela!!!!!!!!

16: 40 In GT1 now 009 Aston is 5th with 3.52.170, the Modena Aston 6th with 3.52.295 , the BMS Aston is 7th with 3.52.774, 63 Corvette in 3.53.119

16:42- Racing for Holland manages to go under 3.36, Jan lammers clocks 3.35.629 and is 9th, 1.3 secs behind Creation

16:45- 3.34.340 for Shimoda and the Arena Zytek on 7th, best non-Diesel/non-Pesca

16:46- Both Spykers 9th and 10th in class, 86 in 4.09.236, 85 in 4.09.904, engine grief seems to be over

16:47- And yes, Yojiro Terada is on the T2M Dome…will he need to do the 10 mandatory laps ??? ;-) )))

16:49- Salo is up to second with the 97 Risi Ferrari, 4.03.555

16:50- Bourdais in 3.27.180, wow!!!!!!!!!!!!

16:55- red flag, not good at this moment of the session….

17:05- green flag , cause of the red flag was a small fire on the Arena Zytek

17:11- Will we get any fast times????

17:16-Small improvement for Boullion , remains 5th

17:20-Pat Long quickest in GT2, 4.01.598…

17:23- The 63 Corvette improves to 2nd, 3.51.453

17:29- Vergers back on the Barazi Zytek cockpit

17:32- Bergmeister 2nd quickest in Gt2, 4.03.400 beating Salo’s time by 22/1000ths

17:35- Racing for Holland 7th now in 3.34.035, great improvement!

17:37-3.59.355 from the Lambo, still one before last in GT1 but significant improvement

17:30-3.49.207 for Magnussen on Corvette 63, he is really flying

17:39-3.26.707 for Bourdais!!!!! Amazing…

17:42- 3.28.574 for Boullion now, GREAT time from the Pesca!! It gets him 4th place

17:44- van Overbeek improves but stays in GT2 second: 4.02.668

17:45- Chris Buncombe gets the Binnie Lola into 5th in LMP2: 3.43.918

17:48- 3.50.848 for Peter Kox, he gets the 007 Aston into second in class

17:49- Vergers matches the Kurosawa time: both Zyteks on top of the LMP2 class, 3.39.016

17:51- Red flag!! Seems to be oil on the track

17:56- Will the track be cleared with 4 minutes to go??

18:00- Session ended

    @cskoeshall – I will look into it for you. I am not familiar with Spain and channels though. Do you guys get SpeedTV? In the states that will be our coverage but unfortunately they like to cut to Nascar during the 24 Hours.
