In warm-up on Sunday morning, the three DTM title candidates were closely together. Like in the first test on Friday and in free practice on Saturday, Martin Tomczyk set the fastest lap time with his Audi A4 DTM.

The driver from Rosenheim lapped the 4.574 kilometres long Hockenheim Grand Prix circuit in 1.33.681 minutes, which made him 0.062 seconds faster than second-placed Jamie Green with his AMG Mercedes C-Class. In the warm-up session, points’ leader Mattias Ekström claimed third place with a lap time of 1.33.913 minutes, only one thousandth of a second slower was Bruno Spengler on the fastest one of the 16 laps he completed.
Tom Kristensen, who will be starting from pole position for the 2007 DTM season finale, was fifth fastest in warm-up, followed by Mike Rockenfeller and Bernd Schneider in sixth and seventh place. Down to Mike Häkkinen in 16th place, all DTM drivers lapped within one second. The two times’ Formula 1 world champion was 0.972 seconds short of Tomczyk’s fastest lap time.
Warm-up was the final function check before the great showdown in the afternoon. The tenth and final round of the season at the Hockenheimring Baden-Württemberg will start at 14.03 h. This race will bring the decision in the battle for the title between Mattias Ekström, Martin Tomczyk and Bruno Spengler – the ARD is broadcasting live from 13.45 h onwards.
