ADAC readers also vote the Scirocco and the Passat CC into the top 5
Wolfsburg, 15 January 2009 – Today the ADAC awarded the ‘Yellow Angels 2009′ in Munich. Right at the top in the eyes of the audience: Volkswagen. Europe’s most successful carmaker was able to place itself under the top 5 with a total of three vehicles.
‘The Yellow Angel is considered a significant helpful feature and a valuable decision making guide for new-car purchases. All the more we are pleased about the voting of the ADAC members’, says Prof. Dr. Martin Winterkorn, chairman of the board of management at Volkswagen AG, who accepted the Yellow Angel for the new Golf at the Allerheiligen-Hofkirche in Munich. The also new Volkswagen Scirocco and Passat CC obtained 4th and 5th place.
The highly acclaimed ‘Yellow Angel’ was awarded in five categories for the fifth time. The ‘vehicle’ category is solely determined by the general public, of which 357,000 readers of the ADAC Motorwelt as well as users of the ADAC website cast their votes and determined the winner. The vote was between 38 vehicle models which have been launched onto the market since the beginning of 2008.
The new Golf has a starting price of 16,500 Euro. The engine range includes four petrol engines stretching from 59 kW / 80 PS to 118 kW / 160 PS. In addition, the new Golf is available with two 2.0 litre TDI engines; they have an output of 81 kW / 110 PS and 103 kW / 140 PS respectively. A standard feature: a diesel particulate filter (DPF). All engines meet the EU5 exhaust emissions norm.”
