Joerg Bergmeister qualified the No. 45 Flying Lizard Porsche fifth in GT with a time of 1:46.583 and Marco Holzer was sixth in the No. 44 with a 1:46.601 for tomorrow’s VIR 240 race. The four-hour event at Virginia International Raceway gets the green flag Saturday, Sept 15 at 2:30 pm ET. The Lizard driver lineup is Bergmeister and Patrick Long in the No. 45 Flying Lizard Porsche 911 GT3 RSR and Holzer and Seth Neiman in the No. 44. In his Porsche 911 GT3 RSR, Marco Holzer posted his first pole position in the American Le Mans Series at Elkhart Lake. On the legendary Road America race track in the US state of Wisconsin, which hosts round seven of the American Le Mans Series on Saturday, the Porsche works driver from Germany set a new qualifying record in the GT class. The second quickest time, a mere 0.01 seconds behind the leader, went to his factory pilot colleague and five-time Road America winner Joerg Bergmeister (Germany) in the second Flying Lizard Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 RSR. Porsche works driver Patrick Long secured a good starting position for round six of the American Le Mans Series. Sharing the cockpit of Flying Lizard Motorsports’ Porsche 911 GT3 RSR with his works driver colleague Joerg Bergmeister, Long takes up Saturday’s race on the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course from third on the grid in the GT class. In an exciting qualifying session on the challenging race track close to Lexington in the US state of Ohio, Long was just a tenth of a second shy of the pole-setter. Earlier this week, Flying Lizard Motorsports announced that Patrick Pilet would fill in for Darren Law. With Law out due to scheduling conflicts, Pilet would share the no79 Porsche 911 GT3 RSR with Seth Neiman and Atlanta’s Spencer Pumpelly.
