We didn’t plan this but its turned out to be a Sean Edwards week here at oneighturbo! At 26 years of age, Englishman, Sean Edwards is having a profound impact on American motorsport fans. He has quickly become a front-runner in both Grand-Am and ALMS racing and his name is synonymous with Porsche Supercup and Carrera Cup Championships. Last year, Edwards was even able to play a part in Ron Howard’s film Rush where he portrayed his father. We’ve been covering the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Series since its start in 2009. Luc Peuters, our european photog, has brought you some amazing shots of the carbon-fiber Bulls. That’s as close as we’ve come on American soil to seeing these exotic beast. Wait no more!
On top of todays, United SportsCar reveal, Lamborghini announced it will launch a specific North American Series sanctioned by IMSA. Pro-Am drivers, taming the V10 Gallardo LP 570-4′s, during two 50 minute races. We like it. With uniqueness and modernity at the forefront, the new United SportsCar Racing platform was revealed (#TheReveal) today at Sebring International Raceway, resulting from the merger of GRAND-AM Road Racing and the American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patron.

Audi is back in P1 but with a little twist, a debut and a farewell. If you’ve been following along ALMS and Grand-Am will merge in 2014 and with that no more LMP1 class. At the same time, Audi Sport Team Joest has entered a pair of R18 e-tron quattro’s. The debut comes as this is a first for the Audi R18 e-tron quattro, a premiere of a hybrid racecar and a first with quattro drive since 1989 in the United States. Look for Marcel Fassler, Benoit Treluyer and Oliver Jarvis in the no1 2012 car. Lucas di Grassi, Tom Kristensen and Allan McNish will share the no2 2013 car. Racing season is on! Earlier today, the American Le Mans Series kicked off 2013 with the annual two day winter test sessions at Sebring. Fifteen entries were scheduled to show up with six of those flying the Porsche flag.

Dempsey/Del Piero Racing confirmed today that the international sports car racing team, newly formed and announced last week by Italian soccer star Alessandro Del Piero and Patrick Dempsey, has been notified that its entry submitted to the Selection Committee of the Automobile Club de l’Ouest (ACO) has been accepted by the ACO, placing the Dempsey/Del Piero team on the entry list for the 2013 24 Hours Le Mans in a Michelin-shod GTE-Am class Porsche 911 GT3 RSR. The Dempsey/Del Piero Racing entry will be fielded in partnership with the experienced and proven Proton Competition racing team. WeatherTech Racing is coming off of a strong Roar Before the 24 Test earlier in the month. The team is taking that momentum into this weekend’s running of the 51st GRAND-AM Rolex 24 Hour at Daytona, Jan. 26-27.
The driver team comprised of Cooper MacNeil (Hinsdale, ILL), Damien Faulkner (Ireland), Marco Holzer (Germany) and Jeroen Bleekemolen (Monte Carlo) will compete in the No. 23 WeatherTech Racing Porsche prepared by Alex Job Racing. The team posted the fifth fastest time at the early January test as they ran through a progression of scenarios in preparation for 24 hours of racing this weekend.
