Gallery after the jump!

Lamborghini calls it a force of nature. Agree? How about 700hp pushing around a mere 3,472lbs. Take off the roof, keep it a two-seater and you have one hell of a ride! They even call for proper clothing as a prerequisite.

The Aventador J comes from a history of “J” naming with the 1971–1972 Miura SV-based “Jota”, 1970–1976 Jarama and 1981–1988 Jalpa. We can also look back to the Lamborghini Concept S in 2005. As with the Miura and Jarama, the Avantador J also features the V12. However, this comes in at 6.5 liters and has 700hp.

“Carbonskin” is found throughout the Avantador J with Lamborghini even having a patent on new seat designs. Continue reading ‘The 700hp, two-seater Lamborghini Aventador J’

WIRED: A Peek Inside the Lamborghini Factory

Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4s on assembly line

Not long ago, the phrase “Lamborghini quality” was as laughable as the phrase “monogamous Berlusconi.”

The Italian automaker founded in 1963 by feisty Ferrari hater Ferruccio Lamborghini built a long line of swoopy exotics that demanded passionate, dedicated drivers — with an equally passionate and dedicated mechanic on speed dial. Several ownership changes over the years, including an ill-fated union with Chrysler in the 1980s didn’t help the cause. Lamborghinis inspired lust, but consistency of build and reliability proved elusive.

Until the Germans got involved. Continue reading ‘WIRED: A Peek Inside the Lamborghini Factory’
