Porsche locks out top 4 GT spots for the 2013 Rolex 24

Porsche 911 GT3 Cup, Konrad Motorsport/Orbit: Nick Tandy, Michael Christensen, Christian Engelhardt, Lance Willsey

Update: Third placed no30 MOMO/NGT Motorsport Porsche GT3 will be starting from the back.

Porsche pilots locked out the first four grid spots in a field of 36 vehicles entered in the GT class. Pole position went to Nick Tandy in the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup fielded by Konrad Motorsport/Orbit. Daytona marks the first race for the Briton as a Porsche works driver. One of his teammates is Porsche Junior Michael Christensen (Denmark), who contests his first 24 hour race on Saturday. APR Motorsport announce drivers for their Audi R8 GRAND-AM program

Dion von Moltke and Dr. Jim Norman have been announced as co-drivers for the APR Motorsport Audi R8 GRAND-AM for the 2012 GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series season.

When he slides behind the steering wheel of the APR Motorsport Audi R8 GRAND-AM, von Moltke, from Coral Gables, Fla., will return home to the team in which he started his professional driving career. Von Molkte competed with APR in the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge in 2008 and 2009, taking three victories before moving to the Daytona Prototype ranks in 2010. The South African, also a student at Florida International University, returns to APR with a wealth of endurance racing experience under his belt with finishes at the Rolex 24 at Daytona, 12 Hours of Sebring and Petit Le Mans. The Audi R8 GRAND-AM successfully passed its baptism by fire. The new model was fine-tuned at the Daytona International Speedway during its final test on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Ready for the North American market: The development of the next customer sport race car from Audi Sport customer racing has been completed. The car will be delivered to the first customers by January. The new Audi R8 GRAND-AM is based on the extremely successful Audi R8 LMS that has scored more than 110 victories and 13 titles. From this GT3 race car quattro GmbH developed a vehicle for the Grand Touring class of the GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series in the USA and subjected it to final testing at Daytona. APR Motorsport is pleased to present Ryan Ellis as our newest record setting driver in the ST class of the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge. Ryan hails from VW’s TDI Cup driver development program where he accomplished 2 wins, 2 poles and was a leader in 4 other races. Porsche sweeps both DP and GT pole positions at Rolex 24 qualifying

 Porsche Riley fielded by Flying Lizard Motorsports, Joerg Bergmeister

Heading into the last few minutes of qualifying, Flying Lizards’,Joerg Bergmeister, laid down an insane lap of 1:40.099. This was 34 seconds up on Max Angelelli and Scott Pruett.

In GT, Porsche had 6 cars in the top 7 only to be split by a lone Camaro driven by Jordan “Super Fast” Taylor. Unfortunately, our good friend, Andy Lally / TRG were pulled from top position with an illegal wing setup. Dominik Farnbacher moves up and Magnus Racing / oneighturbo driver Craig Stanton into third.
