WeatherTech, Alex Job Racing Porsche team ready for grueling Rolex 24

WeatherTech Racing is coming off of a strong Roar Before the 24 Test earlier in the month. The team is taking that momentum into this weekend’s running of the 51st GRAND-AM Rolex 24 Hour at Daytona, Jan. 26-27.

The driver team comprised of Cooper MacNeil (Hinsdale, ILL), Damien Faulkner (Ireland), Marco Holzer (Germany) and Jeroen Bleekemolen (Monte Carlo) will compete in the No. 23 WeatherTech Racing Porsche prepared by Alex Job Racing. The team posted the fifth fastest time at the early January test as they ran through a progression of scenarios in preparation for 24 hours of racing this weekend. Nick Tandy signed as the tenth Porsche works driver

Nick Tandy wins a contract as a Porsche works driver. The 28-year-old from Great Britain is now the tenth of the by now nine-member driver squad with Joerg Bergmeister, Timo Bernhard, Romain Dumas, Wolf Henzler, Marco Holzer, Marc Lieb, Richard Lietz, Patrick Long and Patrick Pilet. Flying Lizard's Marco Holzer Takes First ALMS Career Pole at Road America

Flying Lizard locked out the front row today for the Road America Road Race Showcase with a one/two GT qualifying finish. Marco Holzer took his first ALMS career pole in the No. 44 Flying Lizard Porsche with a time of 2:04.415, a new track record. Joerg Bergmeister was just 1/100 of a second back in P2 in the No. 45 with a time of 2:04.428. It is the first pole for the No. 44 since 2004. Flying Lizards travel with momentum for Road America battle

The Lizards picked up some much-needed season momentum with a second-place finish at the most recent ALMS race at Mid-Ohio August 4th. Bergmeister and Long are now fifth in the 2012 ALMS GT drivers’ championship with 55 points. Oliver Gavin and Tommy Milner of the No. 4 Corvette lead with 93 points. The Lizards are fourth in the team championship with 66 points; Corvette Racing leads with 114 points. There are 88 points possible left in the season. Flying Lizards win GT at Lime Rock

Patrick Long and Joerg Bergmeister brought the No. 45 in for the GT win at today’s Northeast Grand Prix at Lime Rock Park. It’s the first win – and the first podium finish – for the Lizards this year. It’s the team’s fifth win at Lime Rock since 2004. Sister Porsche No. 44 finished ninth in class in the 2 hour and 45 minute race.

Marco Holzner sets no44 on first row at Lime Rock Park

Patrick Long brought the No. 45 in fourth with a time of 51.483 in today’s GT qualifying for the 2012 Northeast Grand Prix, which gets the green flag this Saturday, July 7 at Lime Rock Park. In the No. 44 Flying Lizard Porsche, Marco Holzer clocked the second fastest GT time of 51.299 in the qualifying session but the car did not meet the ride height minimum during post-qualifying technical inspection. As a result, the No. 44 will start from the rear of the grid. The No. 55 BMW is on the GT pole.

Flying Lizard returns to Lime Rock Park this weekend

Last year saw a wet ALMS Lime Rock Park for the Flying Lizards no44

The Lizards are back in the U.S. for round four of the ALMS season, the 2012 Northeast Grand Prix, which gets the green flag this Saturday, July 7 at Lime Rock Park. The Lime Rock race follows closely on the heels of the 24 Heures du Mans, in which the Lizards finished fourth in GTE Am in the No. 79 Porsche (read the Le Mans race report). For this Saturday’s race, the driver lineup will be Joerg Bergmeister and Patrick Long in the No. 45 Flying Lizard Porsche and Seth Neiman and Marco Holzer in the No. 44.

IMSA Performance Matmut Porsche 2nd at the 24 Hours of Le Mans

IMSA Performance Matmut: Anthony Pons, Raymond Narac, Nicolas Armindo

Less than four minutes were missing for Porsche to clinch its 99th class win at the Le Mans 24 Hours. With the Porsche 911 GT3 RSR fielded by the IMSA Performance Matmut team, Frenchman Nicolas Armindo, Raymond Narac and Anthony Pons had led the field just a few laps before the flag dropped on the 80th running of the long distance classic in the Sarthe. But in the final minutes, tyre damage robbed the 2011-spec 911 of all hopes for victory. Nevertheless, the joy over second place was huge for the French Porsche customer team.
