He has already wrapped up the title, but he doesn’t want to leave it with that: in first free practice for the DTM season finale at the Hockenheimring Baden-Wurttemberg, Martin Tomczyk set the fastest time. With his Audi A4 DTM, the Bavarian drove his fastest lap in 1:33.621 minutes. The Audi R8 LMS won the most important endurance race for GT cars ahead of BMW and Mercedes-Benz. Audi Sport Team WRT overcame the strongest competition during the 63rd running of the 24 hours of Spa (Belgium). The two DTM stars Mattias Ekstrom (Sweden) and Timo Scheider (Germany) and the Belgian endurance specialist Greg Franchi shared driving duties in the victorious mid-engine sportscar. Weather seems to always come into play at Spa. However, it decided to cooperate a bit for the first qualifying session for the 24 Hours of Spa. Again, Audi Sport looked to have the pace in damp conditions. Mattias Ekstrom would end up on top with a 2:40.472 in the W Racing Team Audi R8.
