Four weeks prior to the first season round of the 2012 DTM, the three manufacturers Audi, new entrant BMW and Mercedes-Benz presented themselves to the media at the Hockenheimring Baden-Württemberg. In a press conference at the occasion of the final test session before the season opener, Audi’s head of motorsport Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich, BMW Motorsport director Jens Marquardt and Mercedes-Benz’s head of motorsport Norbert Haug reported about the new era in the DTM. We still have just over 2 months until the DTM 2012 season kicks off at the Hockenheimring but we’ve already been treated to a lot from Audi and Mercedes-AMG as well as new (old) comer BMW. All three will have new cars as well. With Audi, we will see the A5 takeover after seven years of competition in the A4. The A5 DTM will also have to live up to four DTM titles out of those seven. Robert Bosch GmbH prevents rear-end collisions in the Audi A7 with its automatic emergency braking system that debuted on the A8, the German automaker’s flagship sedan. The system detects objects ahead by using radar and a video camera. Analysis of the Bosch system’s sensor data determines whether braking should be applied and, if so, how much. Should a collision be predicted, the brakes are readied for use and an alarm sounds. If the driver does not heed that warning, maximum braking occurs about half a second before the expected impact.
