Edoardo Mortara has secured his first ever DTM pole for the fourth round at the Red Bull Ring, Austria. It was Audi’s Mattias Ekstrom who laid down the first time of 1:27.173. It was another Audi A5 DTM at the front with Filipe Albuquerque topping the chart. Albuquerque hit a 1:25.654 on the the 2.6 mile circuit which bested Rockenfeller’s time of 1:27.271 yesterday by 1.6 seconds. The Red Bull SKODA team won the legendary Acropolis Rally, one of the most difficult events in the rallying calendar. Only three weeks to go before the first round at the Hockenheimring Baden-Württemberg on May 1st. This weekend, fans were treated to an eagerly awaited appetizer of the 2011 DTM during the big pre-season launch in Wiesbaden. According to ITR chairman Hans Werner Aufrecht, the upcoming season could well become one of the most thrilling in the DTM’s long history: “I am really curious for this season. After all, with BMW coming in as a new manufacturer from 2012, all the teams will be reduced from currently nine to only six drivers.
