“I don’t know what Andre (Lotterer) had for breakfast. His showing was simply incredible – he just needed one lap to lay a 1m 45.8 on track. That’s a word! Well done to Andre, that was a fantastic lap.” Continue reading ‘Quotes from Audi Sport on a Sebring 1-2-3 qualifying’

The 2011-spec Audi R18 TDI’s have not disappointed here since testing started earlier this week. With the first official practice session kicking off at 10:00am today, Audi Sport Team Joest was off. At the end of the hour long practice, Romain Dumas was at the top, 1:48.626.

“We’re in for a thrilling race because the situation will be a bit tight for everyone with more than 60 cars on the track. Of course I’m expecting for us to be able to set the pace at the front of the field. I’m personally pleased to be able to battle for overall victory in an LMP car for the first time at Sebring. I’m also hoping for us to have the necessary bit of racing luck to do so.” Continue reading ‘Quotes from Audi Sport Team Joest before the 12 Hours of Sebring’

Audi swings another one out of the park… or Road Atlanta we should say. For 2 hours during the beautiful afternoon, the ALMS teams set out to test the cars. They were not kidding about this years race being crowded. We could barely squeeze ourselves between the teams pit-areas.

Romain Dumas would top the charts in this practice session with a 1:09.550. He will share the no1 Audi R18 TDI with fellow Porsche driver Timo Bernard and Le Mans winner Marcel Fassler. Continue reading ‘Dumas puts Audi R18 TDI on top during Wednesday practice’

The race outing of the Porsche 911 GT3 R Hybrid Version 2.0 was trend-setting. The innovative race car achieved the same quick lap times as its top rivals yet used considerably less fuel. Just two broken transmission flanges and a collision thwarted a possible podium spot. The next test under race conditions for the further development of the particularly efficient drive technology of the 911 GT3 R Hybrid 2.0 is planned for the American Le Mans Series race on the Laguna Seca Raceway in California on 17 September. The vehicle is not eligible for championship points, as the hybrid technology is not yet a part of the GT regulations. Continue reading ‘Porsche 911 GT3 R Hybrid to race Laguna Seca in September’
