Porsche 918 Spyder one step closer to production

Porsche 918 Spyder: A unique combination of performance and efficiency

The 918 Spyder embodies the essence of the Porsche idea: it combines pedigree motor racing technology with excellent everyday utility, and maximum performance with minimum consumption. The task faced by the development team was to create the super sports car for the next decade with a highly efficient and powerful hybrid drive. Developing the car from scratch, appropriately beginning with a sheet of white paper, allowed the team to come up with a no-compromise concept. The entire car was designed around the hybrid drive. The 918 Spyder therefore demonstrates the potential of the hybrid drive to a degree never seen before: the parallel improvement of both efficiency and performance without one being at the cost of the other. This is the idea that has made the Porsche 911 the most successful sports car in the world for 50 years. In short, the 918 Spyder will act as the gene pool for the Porsche sports cars of the future. ALMS: Porsche takes a double win at Mosport

Muscle Milk Team Cytosport, Porsche RS Spyder, ALMS, Mosport

Mosport was amazing! You name it, the weekend had it. Big crashes (Get well to all), huge speed, battles galore, lead changes, strategy and more. The only thing better than that was the Porsche wins in both LMP and GT. Romain Dumas was on a tear all weekend and you could tell he was stoked to be back in the RS Spyder. With a pole position, he took off hard from the green and never looked back. Yellow flags did cause some nerves to raise, even ours, but the second stint of Klaus Graf was a mirror performance of Dumas. Out standing win! ALMS: Massive crash forces Muscle Milk Cytosport to sit out at Mid-Ohio

Massive crash forces Muscle Milk Cytosport to sit out at Mid-Ohio

We are happy to report that Greg is ok and was released from the hospital. Greg went off and straight into the tires at Turn 4 at roughly 120mph. The hit caused the RS Spyder to flip and land upside down. The tub will need to be replaced causing the withdrawl. Coming off the win at Lime Rock and topping Patron Highcroft Racing’s Simon Pagenaud during Mid-Ohio testing, it’s a shame we wont see these two battle this weekend. More pics of the RS Spyder after the jump. (continue reading…)
