Patrick Long 4th and 11th in Dual Races at Gold Coast 600

Patrick Long made a strong impression racing for Garry Rogers Motorsport in the Australian V8 Supercars Gold Coast 600 this weekend, taking a 4th place and an 11th place in the dual races Saturday and Sunday. Long, picked by some local media as the most likely “international” driver to struggle in the races, made good on the faith placed in him by team boss Garry Rogers and by Leigh Diffey, the SPEED commentator who urged Rogers to sign Patrick for the weekend. Audi and Peugeot among the 50 entries for this weekend’s dress rehearsal for Le Mans

On the eve of the 1000km de Spa-Francorchamps, John Dagys gives us a preview of whats to come. This will be the first time the two powers of Audi and (factory) Peugeot will go head to head. Both are claiming the race is prep for the 24 Hour of Le Mans. We will be bringing you full coverage of the 1000km as well fresh shots throughout the weekend. GO AUDI!

For many sportscar teams, all roads lead to Le Mans. While it may be an overused cliche, this weekend’s Spa-Francorchamps 1000km is certainly not only being treated as a round of the European-based Le Mans Series, but also as the final warm-up to next month’s 24-hour sportscar classic in Northwest France.

A quick glance of the entry list proves the point. With 50 cars, including entries from Audi Sport Team Joest and Team Peugeot Total, Sunday’s race could be a strong indication of what to expect come June.

SPEED World Challenge TV Broadcast Schedule Released

After much anticipation, broadcast dates and times for the 2009 SCCA Pro Racing SPEED World Challenge Championships have been finalized.

As previously announced, fans can expect a new program from World Challenge this season. Each World Challenge GT and Touring Car race will be combined for one action-packed hour-long show, aired on the SPEED television network and produced by Internal Combustion Group. Each broadcast will combine the best race battles with up-close team features, all with the colorful commentary of long-time series announcer Tom Hnatiw.

Audi’s Allan McNish to appear on Wind Tunnel with Dave Despain

lemans-mcnish-061308.jpg Audi Sport’s Allan McNish is scheduled to appear on SPEED’s popular Wind Tunnel with Dave Despain live at 9 p.m. Sunday from the paddock at Sebring International Raceway.

Driving his brand new Audi R15 TDI for the first time on American soil in testing this weekend, McNish will give SPEED’s audience the first insights about the car’s potential and the team’s expectations for the upcoming 57th Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring presented by Fresh from Florida on Saturday, March 21st. SPEED will televise the race live from 10am to noon and 2-11pm ET.
