
Today at the 61st Annual Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring fueled by Fresh from Florida, Team Falken Tire raced from a 12th place starting position to be a top contender for a majority of the race before earning the final step on the victory podium. With varying track temperatures, different track surfaces and twelve hours of intense competition, Sebring International Raceway demanded the best from drivers, teams and tires. Today Team Falken Tire completed the final American Le Mans Series test session before the official sessions of the 12 Hours of Sebring begin tomorrow morning. Under returning Team Manager Derrick Walker, Tandy will stand as the third Falken Tire driver at the 12 Hours of Sebring season opener March 13-16. Nick Tandy wins a contract as a Porsche works driver. The 28-year-old from Great Britain is now the tenth of the by now nine-member driver squad with Joerg Bergmeister, Timo Bernhard, Romain Dumas, Wolf Henzler, Marco Holzer, Marc Lieb, Richard Lietz, Patrick Long and Patrick Pilet. Under sunny skies at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, with an excellent race strategy and speedy pit stops, Team Falken Tire earned their second consecutive fourth place finish in the GT class of the American Le Mans Series. As in the previous race at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, the team struggled all weekend, facing difficulties with tire and car set up. However, as with the previous round, hard driving, perfect strategy and impeccable pit stops brought the team another strong finish in the highly competitive GT class. Round 4 of the American Le Mans Series presented by Patron was a bittersweet event for the Team Falken Tire. Accelerated shoulder wear on the left rear tire due to heavy load forced the team to pit and change tires more often than expected, costing the team the opportunity to move up through the GT field. The team stayed ahead of four other cars to finish seventh in the GT class.

Less than four minutes were missing for Porsche to clinch its 99th class win at the Le Mans 24 Hours. With the Porsche 911 GT3 RSR fielded by the IMSA Performance Matmut team, Frenchman Nicolas Armindo, Raymond Narac and Anthony Pons had led the field just a few laps before the flag dropped on the 80th running of the long distance classic in the Sarthe. But in the final minutes, tyre damage robbed the 2011-spec 911 of all hopes for victory. Nevertheless, the joy over second place was huge for the French Porsche customer team.
