The UK’s top motoring magazines have got their hands on the New Polo for the first time, and they’re already deeply impressed by its refinement and quality.
Car magazine online is taken by the New Polo’s ‘restrained elegance, subdued styling and intuitive ergonomics….Behind the wheel you immediately notice the well spaced pedals, the confidence-inspiring steering and the slick DSG gearbox,’ writes tester Georg Kacher, driving the 1.2-litre TSI model. ‘It’s an impressive step forward,’ he concludes. Autocar.co.uk have also been driving the 105PS 1.2 TSI, which they reckon is ‘a smooth, gutsy engine whose turbocharger is betrayed only by a soft initial throttle response. Thereafter it feels like a normal 1.6… Cruising is relaxed in sixth, and this Polo is a quiet car.’
Autocar is also impressed with the Polo’s environmental and safety credentials, writing that ‘It should be super-safe, with a five-star score predicted in the revised, tougher EuroNCAP test, and it will be very cheap to run. It will last well and shouldn’t date, and all these things suit it well to the current economic climate.’ Read the full review on Autocar.co.uk.
