VW: Race Touareg tests in Hungary in preparation for the rally

The countdown for the Central Europe Rally (20 – 26 April) is running: with a three-day test in Vesprem, Hungary (08 – 10 April), the Volkswagen factory team is preparing for the cross-country rally run in Eastern Europe.

During the tests Carlos Sainz and Giniel de Villiers are each working for a day and a half on the setup of the Race Touareg on test tracks on a military compound.

At the Central Europe Rally, which leads from Budapest to Romania and back to Hungary, ending at Lake Balaton on 26 April, Volkswagen enters four factory vehicles for Carlos Sainz/Michel Périn (E/F), Giniel de Villiers/Dirk von Zitzewitz (RSA/D) as well as Mark Miller/Ralph Pitchford (USA/RSA) and Dieter Depping/Timo Gottschalk (D/D).

Another Race Touareg with Carlos Sousa/Andy Schulz (P/D) is running for the Lagos customer team.

Ah, Mark Miller was talking about this race at the VW Jetta tdi cup driver’s selection…he won’t be able to attend our first Jetta TDI cup race b/c of hungary. Good luck to him & the Volkswagen crew!
